The official version of Joseph Smith’s first vision reads, in part:
Joseph Smith said, “After I had retired to the place where I had previously designed to go, having looked around me, and finding myself alone, I kneeled down and began to offer up the desires of my heart to God. I had scarcely done so, when immediately I was seized upon by some power which entirely overcame me, and had such an astonishing influence over me as to bind my tongue so that I could not speak. Thick darkness gathered around me, and it seemed to me for a time as if I were doomed to sudden destruction. But, exerting all my powers to call upon God to deliver me out of the power of this enemy which had seized upon me, and at the very moment when I was ready to sink into despair and abandon myself to destruction—not to an imaginary ruin, but to the power of some actual being from the unseen world, who had such marvelous power as I had never before felt in any being—just at this moment of great alarm, I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!” (JS-H 1: 15-17)
Joseph wrote other accounts of his first vision, in which the pillar of light was described instead as a “pillar of fire” or “pillar of flame.”
When Moroni appeared to Joseph the first time, this is how he described the visit:
Joseph Smith said, “While I was thus in the act of calling upon God, I discovered a light appearing in my room, which continued to increase until the room was lighter than at noonday, when immediately a personage appeared at my bedside, standing in the air, for his feet did not touch the floor. He had on a loose robe of most exquisite whiteness. It was a whiteness beyond anything earthly I had ever seen; nor do I believe that any earthly thing could be made to appear so exceedingly white and brilliant. His hands were naked, and his arms also, a little above the wrist; so, also, were his feet naked, as were his legs, a little above the ankles. His head and neck were also bare. I could discover that he had no other clothing on but this robe, as it was open, so that I could see into his bosom. Not only was his robe exceedingly white, but his whole person was glorious beyond description, and his countenance truly like lightning. The room was exceedingly light, but not so very bright as immediately around his person. When I first looked upon him, I was afraid; but the fear soon left me. ” (JS-H 1: 30-32)
Plasma discharges in three ways, or modes. There is the glow mode, which is how the Sun operates. There is the arc mode, which is how lightning discharges. And then there is the dark mode, which is a discharge that does not give off visible light. The way the First Vision is described, it sounds like glow mode discharging was taking place. The way Moroni’s angelic visit is described, it sounds like arc mode discharging was taking place. And the way Satan’s visit was described, it sounds like dark mode discharging was taking place. Interestingly enough, Joseph’s description of both a pillar of fire and a pillar of light are typical of the glow mode of plasma. We all readily admit that the Sun appears to be glowing, but if you take a close look at it through modern equipment, it also looks like fire. In fact, it looks like pillars or tornadoes of fire. LDS Anarchy 
This is one of the least understood truths, a bit of extra information that came in the process of restoring the gospel. I’m thrilled to see that someone else understands this concept. Knowing this opens doors to other ideas. The glowing stones of the Jaridites were electical devices. The Liahona was an electircal device, as were the Urim and Thummim and seer stones. God employs electrical technology. Temple and sacrifice rituals, in the distant past when Earth was in a vastly different electrical environment, resulted in electrical phenomena that was interpreted as the presence of God or the
Spirit. This was the power of the Arc or the Covenant.
Some will call this blasphemy; I call it insight. What say you?
There is nothing blasphemous about this. Humans are electrical beings and since God created us, it should be no surprise God is also electrical in nature and that the devices he employs work upon the same electrical, or plasma-based, principle. Plasma, after all, makes up over 99.9% of the universe.
Our resurrected bodies of flesh & bone (lacking blood), I have no doubt, will be organic/electric vehicles. But the power to control that body comes from spirit matter.

Speaking of eternal duration of matter, I said: There is no such thing as immaterial matter. All spirit is matter, but is more fine or pure, and can only be discerned by purer eyes. We cannot see it, but when our bodies are purified, we shall see that it is all matter. (May 17, 1843.) DHC 5:392-3.
Difference Between Body and Spirit
Section Four 1839-42, p.207
In tracing the thing to the foundation, and looking at it philosophically, we shall find a very material difference between the body and the spirit; the body is supposed to be organized matter, and the spirit, by many, is thought to be immaterial, without substance. With this latter statement we should beg leave to differ, and state the spirit is a substance; that it is material, but that it is more pure, elastic and refined matter than the body; that it existed before the body, can exist in the body; and will exist separate from the body, when the body will be mouldering in the dust; and will in the resurrection be again united with it.
Spirits Eternal
Section Four 1839-42, p.208
Without attempting to describe this mysterious connection, and the laws that govern the body and the spirit of man, their relationship to each other, and the design of God in relation to the human body and spirit, I would just remark, that the spirits of men are eternal, that they are governed by the same Priesthood that Abraham, Melchizedek, and the Apostles were: that they are organized according to that Priesthood which is everlasting, “without beginning of days or end of years,”–that they all move in their respective spheres, and are governed by the law of God; that when they appear upon the earth they are in a probationary state, and are preparing, if righteous, for a future and greater glory; that the spirits of good men cannot interfere with the wicked beyond their prescribed bounds, for Michael, the Archangel, dared not bring a railing accusation against the devil, but said, “The Lord rebuke thee, Satan.”
Parley P. Pratt’s “Keys to the Science of Theology” spends several chapters discussing these matters of spirit vs. matter, planetary bodies, motion & velocity, etc. Very early editions can be downloaded in PDF form from BYU’s digital library (later editions were heavily redacted by the Church leadership).
I love that book (Key to the Science of Theology.) It is one of my favorites.
As I watched an older blond/white haired woman walk down the street today, my thoughts turned towards the First Vision art depictions, of two Personages with white hair. Also, the description of the glorified Jesus by John the Revelator. I wondered whether the white hair was really white, or just hair that was discharging plasma at that moment, so that it glowed white. I wondered if God the Father actually had dark colored hair, but when it began to discharge, and thus glow, it changed color, going through all the colors of the rainbow until, at maximum current, it glowed bright white. I wondered whether the blonds, brunettes, redheads and whiteheads were patterned after the color of God’s own head of hair discharging at different currents. Strange thoughts, I know…
I just found this: Plasma life in the bible
plasma and glory are synonymous. Fire is just light moving at a slower speed than plasma. Sometimes the gases released in the flame when burned are referred to as plasma, but the heat needs to be “quickened” to about 20,000 degrees to become “celestial.”
